Harvest Rules for Chukchi Sea Polar Bears

The Alaska Nannut Co-Management Council reminds the community of the rules for harvesting Chukchi Sea polar bears under a US-Russia treaty, including prohibitions on harvesting female bears with cubs, cubs under one year, or bears in dens, and restrictions on equipment. The post also notes increased polar bear sightings, including mothers with cubs, in and near communities.
