Any construction, addition, deck, demolition or electrical-panel change inside city limits needs a permit from the Building Inspections Division at the Public Works building, 2930 Tongass Avenue - call the Building Official at 907-228-4737 (fax 907-225-8721). Download the Building Permit Application and the 'how to apply' handouts online; every application also needs a Borough Owner Authorization page and may need a Borough zoning permit first. Side-sewer and street paint/sign requests are online forms; traffic, excavation and site-development permits are PDFs.
