Senior (65+) / Disabled Veteran property tax exemption - apply by March 31

Homeowners 65+ (age 65 before January 1 of the tax year) and veterans with a 50%+ service-connected disability can have up to the first $150,000 of their primary residence's assessed value exempted from Borough property tax. File the exemption application with the Assessor's Office (1900 First Ave, Suite 219, 907-228-6640) by March 31 of the exemption year; you must own and occupy the home and be PFD-eligible. Once approved you do not re-apply unless something changes. Late applications are only accepted for serious medical reasons and never after July 1. A widow/widower 60+ of an approved applicant can keep the exemption.
