Coastal Guardians Observation & Green Crab Response Network (KIC) – volunteer sign-up

KIC's Cultural Resources Department runs a community network to watch for and remove invasive European green crab. Sign up to join the Coastal Guardian Observation Network (free T-shirt for new sign-ups at the Blueberry Festival booth), take the green crab training, and join community trapping days at Rotary/Bugge's Beach (announced on the KIC.CRD Facebook page; over 500 people signed up in 2026). To trap on your own you need a State of Alaska permit. Contact the department at 907-228-9381.
