ASRC Historical Anniversary
Original post
November 4 marks an important moment in ASRC’s history. In 1989, ASRC’s original shareholders voted overwhelmingly to open enrollment to North Slope Iñupiaq descendants born after the cutoff date of December 18, 1971, mandated by the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA). Since then, ASRC’s shareholder base has grown from nearly 3,800 to more than 14,000 and continues to grow today. In June 2025, ASRC shareholders again made history by authorizing additional Class C and D shares for future descendants. Like in 1989, our shareholders ensured that our cultural identity and values are passed down to future generations. Quyanaqpak and taikuu to our shareholders for continuing this legacy.
