Arctic Slope Native AssociationView organization ›October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
This month is a reminder to prioritize your health and encourage the people you care about to do the same. Early detection through routine mammograms can help find breast cancer sooner, when treatment is often most effective.
To make screening more convenient, SSMH Screening for Life is offering extended mammography appointments throughout October from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
As a special Breast Cancer Awareness Month promotion, complete your mammogram during October and receive a FREE Celebration Bag while supplies last.
Then join us for the 10th Annual Girls Night Out on October 28 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the SSMH Lobby for an evening of fun, community, refreshments, prizes, and more.
Residents of surrounding villages who would like to attend Girls Night Out, as well as anyone wishing to schedule a mammogram, should contact Screening for Life at 907-852-9120 or 852-9372.23 shares
Arctic Slope Native AssociationView organization ›October is ADHD Awareness Month!
Every child learns, grows, and shines in their own unique way. This month, we recognize the strengths, creativity, and potential of children living with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) while also encouraging families to seek support when concerns arise.
In Alaska, an estimated 9.5% of children ages 4-17 currently have an ADHD diagnosis, highlighting the importance of awareness and early identification.
If your child is experiencing challenges with attention, focus, impulsivity, organization, or hyperactivity, know that you are not alone. Early screening can help families better understand their child's needs and connect them with resources that support success at home, in school, and in the community.
SSMH offers preliminary ADHD screenings upon request. Taking the first step today can make a meaningful difference tomorrow.1
