Original post

Happy Iñuit Day! Today, the North Slope Borough School District proudly commemorates Iñuit Day and honors the remarkable legacy of the late Eben Hopson Sr. A visionary Iñupiaq leader from Utqiaġvik, Eben Hopson Sr. played an instrumental role in shaping the North Slope Borough, advocating for Alaska Native rights, strengthening our communities, and bringing Inuit voices together across the Arctic through the establishment of the Inuit Circumpolar Council. His leadership, determination, and commitment to our people helped pave the way for generations to come. As we celebrate Iñuit Day, we honor his legacy and recognize our shared responsibility to carry forward his vision of unity, perseverance, and self-determination. Quyanaqpak, Eben Hopson Sr., for the path you helped pave!
